About the Show

The Twin Rivers Benefit Horse show was started in 1970 by Lynn Harris, Pete Peters, Tom Thibaut, and their families. It started out to be an all junior exhibitor and amateur show with classes for saddle horse, hunters and western horses. Through out the years the show has changed with the show industry and is now one of the area’s premier horse shows for Saddlebreds, Morgans and Hackney ponies. With a very active board of directors & a great group of exhibitors the show has evolved to become the enjoyment of all those who attend. We have many world champion horses exhibited here and the level of competition is wonderful. We have one exhibitor who comes from Dallas,Texas ,Bill Marple, who initiated the amateur of the Year award . The show committee nominates all amateurs who have not yet received the award and pull the name from a hat at one of our first meetings of the year. We have a great exhibitor’s party on Friday night after the horse show, music and merriment abounds. We also have a nice academy division for the beginning rider. Many thanks to all our board members for the dedication to the show and tireless devotion to make this the great horse show it is.

About Our Charities

The Stephanie Speilman Fund For Breast Cancer Research

(Narrative provided from the website for Stefanie Spielman Fund at the Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital at Ohio State University , Columbus, OH )

"In early 1998, while performing a breast self-exam, Stefanie Spielman felt a lump. She immediately had it examined by her physician and was told.at age 30.that she had breast cancer. Stefanie has now survived three bouts with breast cancer. She believes that education is the best weapon against this disease, and that research is the key to eliminating it. That’s why she and her husband, former OSU football star and All-Pro NFL linebacker Chris Spielman, established the Stefanie Spielman Fund for Breast Cancer Research at The James. They pledged to raise $1 million to be dedicated to breast cancer research at the Comprehensive Cancer Center – Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute at The Ohio State University. Although this goal has been surpassed, your help is still needed in the fight against breast cancer."

Saddlebred Rescue

(Narrative provided by Saddlebred Rescue Website)

“It is the mission of Saddlebred Rescue, Inc. to educate the public on concerns facing the Saddleseat breeds and save the unwanted horses from slaughter and return them to useful, productive lives. Saddlebred Rescue assists in the placement and care of rescues, the abused and neglected from animal law enforcement agencies, and privately owned Saddlebreds, Hackneys, and Morgans. Programs include “Kids Care” where youth groups are encouraged to support our efforts and learn to take care of their horses as well as “The Pegasus Project” which will enable the rescues to teach those in need how to drive. Those in need may include families of those serving the overseas, mentally or physically abuse or handicapped. We believe every Saddlebred, Morgan, and Hackney deserves a safe and caring home to live out its’ life.”
